What complaints should not be treated in an urgent care center?

We encourage you to proceed directly to your closest emergency room if you have complaints of chest pain, abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, rectal bleeding or vomiting blood.  These are just a few of potentially life threatening symptoms that must be evaluated emergently.  In addition, if our staff feels your condition warrants, we will refer you to the local hospital of your choice.

      Occupational Medicine:

What services can we offer to our neighboring business?
Back to Work Program. Rapid Response / Back to Work is our promise to local businesses that we will see your employees rapidly and get them back to work, rapidly. We are available for pre-employment physicals, on the job injuries, return to work physicals, hearing and vision screening and travel medicine vaccinations

What services can we offer to our local surgical specialists?
We have the ability to offer pre-op testing and pre-op medical risk stratification for those patients undergoing elective surgery. If you need pre-op testing and your primary care doctor can’t fit you in, simply call ahead to schedule a pre-op evaluation by our board certified physicians. Most visits can be arranged for the same day.

What type of laboratory & radiology services do we offer?
Our center offers digital x-ray. You will be able to view your own x-ray and review it with your doctor. In addition we will burn a copy of your film onto a disc for you to take home and keep for your records. We offer on-site and send-out laboratory services. We expect that almost all send-out blood work will be resulted by the next day. You will be contacted with your results as soon as we get them. And we won’t send you to a lab; our trained phlebotomists will draw your blood in the comfort of our office. We also offer a host of on-site testing including but not limited to: Rapid HIV, Rapid Influenza, A&B testing, Rapid Mononucleosis screening, Rapid Strep, Urine Pregnancy, Urinalysis to diagnose urinary infection or blood in urine, GC/Chlamydia and full STD panel

      The Rapid Response Experience:
You are encouraged to walk in without an appointment.  Our reception staff will greet you and register you at the front desk.  You will then be asked to relax in our guest lounge.  For our younger patients we offer the comfort of a separate kid’s corner within view of their parents.  For our more mature patients, we offer a separate lounge area.  Soon after registration you will be seen by our medical assistant who will take a summary of your chief complaint and a brief medical history.  At that time they will check your vital signs.  We will be interested in measuring your blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature and blood oxygen level.  After that, you will meet your doctor who will again review your chief complaint, medical history and examine you.  We will focus on your chief complaint and plan a course of treatment only after discussing all of the options with you.  At that point we might suggest further lab testing, EKG or x-rays.  Upon checking out from Rapid Response you will have a written explanation of what occurred during your visit and what the plan of care will be and we will forward a copy to your primary care provider.  If you require further follow-up, we will gladly refer you to some of the top doctors that Long Island has to offer.  And for your convenience, we are located adjacent to a 24 hour pharmacy.  If we start you on prescription medications your prescriptions will be electronically sent to the pharmacy of your choice.
